The extreme’s in weather conditions caused me some concern. As numerous ski hills closed, I was disappointed to see how snow continued to accumulate in my search area. Nothing like the east coast of course but still a concern. I checked a usual site to view the new snow fall amount. But I fell prey to a nasty surprise when I followed the prompt to click on another update concerning the area. A hard-core porn site suddenly appeared revealing a vastly different measuring device than I expected. The participants weren’t dressed for winter conditions, either. After investigating the site thoroughly, I found no mention of snowfall and left. I returned to using the appropriate government website.
I move into my new place next week and hope to settle in quickly. When that’s done I’ll have both White’s detectors given a check over to be sure they are ready for my final push into the forest. I know how tempting it is for consumers to shop online but my association with a warranty rep for a dealer has been a valuable part of my learning curve. The expensive electronics in the detectors I use are delicate and should be handled accordingly. And my dealings with online purchases left much to be desired. I admit to only a couple of items bought online but they were problematic and disappointing. I prefer to let the dealer worry about poor handling conditions.
Living in a settled area with history lends many opportunities for exciting searches. As detectors increase their depth-seeking capabilities, even the most searched over area is suddenly fresh ground again.
I am pleased to write that 2820 views of this blog came from sixty-four countries. My thanks to all and I plan to write important updates as they develop. Stolen gold has always been exciting, perhaps the best of all treasure. Like any item of interest, the story behind it becomes as important as the object. That’s what makes history interesting to me. The next time you notice an item in a museum or antique shop that arouses your curiosity, consider the people that made the piece. Or the ones who merely appreciated it, cared for it or protected it through times of war and upheaval.
And think warm, summer thoughts for me.
