The following picture reveals the difficulties encountered on the forestry road. I used the truck to pull a fallen tree off the trail and had the rear of the truck slide off. Trying to regain the path only made the situation worse until I used the hand winch and a chain. The front wheels on the 4×4 wore great tires chains but a rear wheel had no ground contact and that seemed to not allow the front end to roll. Pulling with the winch proved just enough to regain the trail and move on.
As if that weren’t enough physical labour I didn’t chance driving as far as I’d hoped meaning I had to carry gear for a few hundred meters in deep snow. Exhaustion came early that day. But I swept the detector where I thought the best places to search with no positive signals.
All I hoped for proved to be elusive again. Another winter needs to pass before I resume the challenge. But wintering for a time in Los Angeles may help ease the sting of delay. Remove myself from the area and wait for the snow to melt and flow through the canyon. And try to see what I’ve missed.
Matt said the gold is cursed. He would say that of course after being shot dead on his return to pick it up. Didn’t seem to be an issue with him when he used the Winchester to make the withdrawl. He didn’t tell me that directly of course. A friend and I decided to visit a psychic on a whim one afternoon. The psychic proved to be more of a medium and revealed some very interesting clues to me. From Matt, sort of. Anyways I do hold some great interest in the unexplained and attended for a second session. Again some interesting clues. She said Los Angeles would be very good to me (and for me) so no arguement on that call. The other details need spring to appear after the frozen time is done. Until then I’ll rest this tired body where the sun shines warmly this time of year. I’ll let you know how it works out.
