Snow. Beautiful to view but not so great for a two wheel drive truck on a forestry trail. One wheel drive actually. Decades of winter driving on the prairies and good tires saw me move safely in and out. Part of that success was because I chose to walk the last kilometer or more rather than walk all eight back to the highway.
My planning included a dollycart and garbage can to transport a shovel, pick, axe and metal detector among other goods. All good except in deeper snow, limited, and going back, uphill. But I was determined to get to the site and find what I could. This trip, again disappointed me to a small degree due to a limited find: half of the metal wheel barrow frame. But again, I am proving I am in the right area.
And the snowy, cold forest again comforted me. TBC
